Hubby's rug is finished and wrapped

I think he'll love it. He really has fishing on the brain. And he loves to go alone. Something I don't think a woman would ever think about. What about the boogie-man? He walks for miles up and down the river and sees many different people. It makes me uneasy for him, but he says all "river people" are nice.

Here's a pic of the finished rug. It measures 31" by 27". And says, "not all who wander are lost."

And here's the label I sewed to the back. I've been using the print on fabric that comes in a package and sewing it on for labels. I like it much better than trying to write with a Sharpie. Looks more professional too.

Over at MSN on a rug hooking board, "Wool Snippets" we had a Secret Santa exchange. I received my package this week. Lots of nice stuff from Susi Seyller in Virginia. Thanks again, Susi. She even put in some scrapbooking stuff for Jimmie Dean!!! How thoughtful is that? And look at the beautiful hooked angel ornament she made. Also a 2008 Hallmark ornie, 4 beautiful pieces of wool, penguin socks, note cards from Primitives by Kathy, chocolate, and some snowman kleenex. It was quite a gift to get in the mail from someone I don't even know. It was great fun putting the box together from me to my secret person too. Haven't heard yet if she has received it or not.

Our weather has been crazy all week, warm, cold, high pressure, low pressure. It's made my fibromyalgia flare and I've pretty much been in bed or on the couch all week. Last night at Simply Fibers was our hooking group and they ordered pizza and had a Christmas party. I had to miss it. Boo Hoo. And our granddaughters Christmas program at school was Monday night. Missed that too. I was really looking forward to that. There's nothing better than the sound of little kids singing Christmas carols. They're so excited and innocent. The commercialism hasn't really caught up to them in grade school. Wish we could go back to the way things used to be regarding Christmas, but I guess people have been using that phrase about a lot of things for many years. But I still wish we could simplify it and just celebrate the birth of baby Jesus.

Like I always say, all we need to do is watch "A Charlie Brown Christmas" to get the real meaning.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas,

Peace,

Sheri

Here's who I was this weekend...

I was all of these this weekend!

I hope this perimenopause thing doesn't last ten years like I have heard. It's already been two. Merry Friggin Christmas!!!

Jimmie Dean had his first bath yesterday too. He was pretty scared and shaking in the kitchen sink and the blow dryer really freaked him out. But he's clean and dry now. I had been having him sit on my lap when I dried my own hair to get used to the noise.

I'm taking my dad to the Dr. this morning for the dreaded colonopscopy. He said it may take a couple of hours and to bring something to do. I still have to finish this and make it into a doll.I can easily finish it in two hours. Then come home and sew him up and stuff him!!

I still have some "tweaking" to do on Mickey's rug but I hope to finish it tomorrow. Like I don't like the really dark spot on the upper right, his fishing pole is too big (fat) and I'm going to put some ripples in the water where he's standing and by the rocks in the water. Tammy (skiptomyewe Tammy-my teacher) suggested I put some of the darker wool on the bottom left to have the eye follow it across the rug. I'll try to sew up the binding today. I'm going to do the wool wrapped cording for the edges. I think that wears well.
Have a great week!
Peace,
Sheri

New hooked winter purse!

I've finished sewing together the winter purse I hooked. I whipped all around the edges and the top with wool yarn and I love the look. I think I'll finish all of my purses this way now.

For the back and handles I used a wool felted sweater. I like that look too! When doing the whipping I used a curved upholstery needle. It made it soooo much easier to do. I had always used the big eyed brass ones before but this time I thought I'd try this and it worked great.

Also I need to mention that Trudy of www.bitsofwool.blogspot.com is having a Christmas give away!!! Visit her blog and leave a comment to enter.

Today I've been sewing and putting the finishing touches on the Christmas decorations in the house. Mickey hung the outside lights today and they look fabulous.

He's as much a perfectionist as I am. Each light on the roof line is pointing straight up. Just as I would have done. No wonder we get along!

I sewed a "doll" of Jimmie Dean and a purse for my hairdresser. I had my hair cut Thursday and she said she would trade the haircut for a purse of just the felted sweater (no hooking) I used iron on interfacing on the sweater pieces and the lining pieces to give them some body. Here's the J.D. doll. He likes it!!!

I listed some of my decoupaged soap on Etsy Friday afternoon and by today at noon they had disappeared to page 42!!! I honestly don't know how you guys sell anything on there.

Last summer I listed about 15 pair of earrings, and by the time I finished listing them I went to check out the listing. They were gone. Buried on page 15 or so!!! It only took me about fifteen minutes to list them and poof they were gone! Oh well. Maybe some of you could give me some pointers.

Have a relaxing Sunday.

Let the beauty we love be what we do.
Peace,
Sheri

Please say a prayer tonight....

.......for Katie. My cyber friend from Warsaw, MO. She has been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer and had lumpectomy surgery today. She's so sweet and caring. I've never met her in person, but I feel like we really know each other. One day I will go to Warsaw and meet her. Her friend Patti has a rug hooking shop on the square in town. It's only about 90 minutes from Springfield and I hear it is a wonderful shop. (Not like I need any more patterns or wool) but I love going to new hooking places. You can always find a piece of wool that you love the color of, but have no idea what you're going to do with it. Better buy it now though, it might come in handy. Anyway back to Katie, I'm sure she'll appreciate all the prayers from my readers. Hope you have a fast recovery my friend.

It snowed lightly here Sunday night and Monday. Just enough to get me excited!! I absolutely love the snow. I know it's weird. I don't even mind to shovel it!! I used to love to go to the mall parking lot at night and "do donuts" in my car. After the mall was closed of course.

I took Jimmie Dean back to the vet for his recheck. He put him on another antibiotic for another 14 days. He said the bronchitis is hard to get rid of in dogs. Who knew? This is Dr. Linn DVM. He is so kind I wish he could be MY doctor. He spent more time with me than any MD has ever spent. And happily answered all of my questions. After we left the vet I took him by the breeders and she gave him his third puppy shot and worming medicine. I felt so sorry for him that we went to Pet Warehouse for a new sweater for him! Also a couple of new toys. One for today and the rest for his Christmas stocking.

I told the ladies at the reception desk at the Vet office that I was scrapbooking him they said it was the first time anyone had photographed them for a doggie scrapbook!! I don't have any kids so he really is like my baby.

I do have grandkids though, my husband has four boys. Talk about good luck...I get grandkids to play with and send home and didn't have to raise any myself! Just kidding....I love kids and really wanted some-just didn't happen for me.

Here's the big boy posing in his new sweater. He actually liked it! I had been having him sleep on a heating pad on his bed. They told me to do that till he's 2.5 pounds or six months. He weighed 2.2 pounds yesterday.

Good night and please don't forget to pray for our hooking friend Katie.

Peace,

Sheri
