I’m still here! Just a little slower than before!!!

First I want to share with you the gifts I have received from the two swaps I entered.  The first one was Deena’s Jingle for the  cure.  It came from my new friend Lea from Arkansas. Here was just inside the box.   Mind you, this is supposed to be an ornament swap.  Not to her!

She mailed me two handmade ornies~both beautiful.

Some warm fuzzy socks.  Two pair, so my little tootsies don’t get cold.

     

And my favorite.  A shabby sheep she made from the last piece of an antique wool blanket she had been keeping in an antique trunk in the basement.  Lea said she had been saving it for something, just didn’t know what!  Until she saw that I was Shabby Sheep!  then she says she knew!  Isn’t that the sweetest sentiment?  I have her on my mantle with all of my old Santa's.  Thank you again, Lea.  Like I said, they were all good tears!

Then Laura from Got Three Bags Wool, got my name in the Wool Snippets swap.  She also totally went overboard with her giving!!!

And the greatest for last! This BEAUTIFUL hooked angel mat!  I cried when I opened her.  It’s just so special.  Ever since this cancer diagnosis, my mom and I have been collecting all things angelic.  And this fits on the box on my coffee table like it was made to go there!  Thank you so much, Laura.

We had a hooking~Christmas party at Dulcy’s house last night.  I’ll show you the picks from that tomorrow!   We had a great time, eating, drinking and hooking!

Only two more days

Until the Springfield, MO. hook-in.




It's supposed to rain part of the day on Saturday. Just in the morning, I think. They said we could put our chairs out on the deck and hook. That would be so great. It's so peaceful and beautiful at Lake Springfield. In the evening the deer come up so close you could almost touch them. I suppose they're almost tame since they live there and are used to seeing people every day. Almost every night there are people pulled over to the side of the road watching and taking pictures.

I can't wait to meet Patti of Saltbox Primitive Woolens and her friend Katie, with whom I've formed an internet friendship with. It will be great to meet her in person! Patti will be a vendor with all of her beautiful wool and patterns. Her shop is in Warsaw, MO. About three hours from here (I think!)


Tammy was so nice as to let me set up a little corner of my things for sale too.

I also hand-dyed these beautiful aprons. I was dyeing wool the other day and got a few spots of dye on my shirt. If I had an apron that was already dyed, it wouldn't have shown. The dyed aprons were born!!!





And of course the t-shirts and bags I already showed you. I still haven't got them on Etsy, but I did get my shop set up yesterday. Boy...that's TIME CONSUMING!Then to list the items for sale will take another hunk of time it looks like.


I'm also still trying to put the pillow together I hooked for my mom for her birthday. I'm having alot of difficulty with this one! Some times they go together easily, sometimes it's like I've never done this before!!!

I'm making the back in two pieces, like an envelope. Leaving an opening in the middle for the pillow form. I've never done it like this before but it seemed like a good idea at the moment.

I promise to take lots of pictures at the hook-in. I've already got my tri-pod set out along with my things for sale. Hopefully I won't have to do anything tomorrow but polish my fingernails! Mickey keeps cautioning me not to overdo it or I won't feel like doing anything by the weekend.

This is the next pattern I'm going to hook. I'll take it with me Saturday. Dulcy made one for her coffee table and it's Gorgeous!!! It was a free pattern in Rug Hooking Magazine a few months ago and Dulcy, being the wild child she is, hooked it in delicious colors!!!!

Great new dye gloves!!!

Check these out!!! While shopping at Hobby Lobby I spotted these!!! How fun are these for dyeing wool? Also I got the matching scrub brush in the event I would actually have to wash dishes. (You would have to cook in order to have dishes to wash!)

I spent the Whole day yesterday cutting up sweaters I have felted. I really didn't realize I had collected so many sweaters. I stop by the thrift store, find a couple, wash them and then I put them in old suitcases in the basement. By the washer and dryer. I remembered them yesterday and thought I ought to make a couple of bags and see if I can sell them! Here are the ones I got cut up. I still have one more suitcase full!

Looks like I better get the sewing machine warmed up.

Here's the little bag I made for myself quite some time ago.

As you can see, it holds all of my hooking supplies with ease. I think I could easily make two bags from one sweater. I'll show you what I come up with.

Tonight's hooking night so I'm off to see the girls. I missed last time so I have some catching up to do. I'll take some pics and share with you tomorrow.
