Jimmie Dean turns One!

Yesterday was Jimmie Dean's first birthday!!! My, how he's changed our lives in that year. He is my constant companion. Truly unconditional love is what he shows me. And he listens to me~really listens (not like husbands do!) What did I ever do without him?

And I thought I would share with you the progress of my antique stars rug. I hooked the center star, then promptly ripped it out. It was too rounded and looked like a flower instead of a star. Then this afternoon I hooked the flower on the right and promptly ripped it out too! I didn't like the color I had chosen. Remember, these are not my "normal" colors? I must say I'm proud of myself so far for not changing my palette to brighter, richer colors. I'm keeping them antiquey looking.

And on my last post someone asked me whose pattern this is. I drew it from an antique rug from the mid nineteenth century. No copyright laws from that long ago, so I guess I can say it's my design!?!?! Let me know how you feel about this. I saw one design for sale that I know I have seen in an antique rug book and this designer had a copyright of her own on it. I just don't really know how this works and would love to hear your opinions.
I'm on somewhat of a roll with my hooking so I'm going to go do some more right now while I'm in the mood!
Take care,
Sheri

Your rug is looking great. Alot of detail in it. Should be fun to work on and its nice to try something different every once in awhile. And Happy Birthday Jimmy Dean! Little Millie sure has changed my household since her arrival 7 years ago. She is 3.5 pounds but has taken over as head of the household! Hope you made him a special birthday treat!!

Happy Birthday to your doggie!!! I think they call that an 'adaptation' of an antique rug!! Happy hooking!! and reverse hooking, too! I don't like to reverse hook ~ it has to be awful before I do that!!

Sheri ~ Your rug looks great. I'm with Alice on it being an "adaptation" of an antique rug.

Thanks for coming to our open house. Kenda said you had been in and Dulcy had come down. Of course, I managed to miss you both. It was a great weekend and definitely worth all the work. I love your new rug and happy birthday to Jimmy Dean. Jan

Happy birthday to Jimmie Dean!
I love the rug, although soft, muted colors are my thing and I have to push myself to use brights!
The copyright issue is a great topic for discussion--everyone has a different opinion as to what it means. I've heard that if a design is before the 1920's it is public domain.
