Charging for The Welcome Mat!?!?!

money%20large

What exactly would we be paying for?  Sharing ideas on the internet?  Sharing photos, recipes, helpful tips?  Wouldn’t that kind of be like charging to read blogs?  I understand it takes an administrator to have a group like this, but should you really be in it for the money?  Or, honestly…..hire people?  It just seems absurd to me!  Are you going to pay the fee?  I guess you know where I stand! (And BTW I have paid for a “class” on The Welcome Mat and was also quite disappointed.)

Let me know what you think about this!

Peace,

Sheri

I was stunned too. I re-read the emails about 3 times before I really caught on. I left the site today and signed in on the new free one. But I use Rug Hooking Daily most of them time for resources. And all you "free" bloggers are a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.
PS I love seeing your new posts. Then I know you are doing OK. xoxo

I agree! Lots of information and connecting with other rug hookers out there without having to pay. Wanda does a great job, but I'm just that much of a "joiner" to pay for using a site. Thanks for bringing this up in your post Sheri!

Rug Hooking Daily is free. Heidi runs it in such a way that any of us can create discussion forums and rug camps and groups. So the creativity exchange and community building is all there! Just transfer your photos over. I'm going to pull my page off TWM tomorrow.

BTW I didn't get these emails. Who were the sent to? What did they say?

I will be another one who won't pay for the site. From the beginning, I didn't feel like it was a comfortable place. I didn't fell like I could post anytime, as it seemed like when someone posted a ? on the forum, no one answered and then she would post that same question as the Question of the Day. I know there is alot of information there, but it felt like a business site to me and now it really does feel like it's a business site, rather than a hook n gab.

Chelle,
You hit the nail on the head! With the whole questions thing....totally didn't get that. Plus I like to have ideas coming from everywhere, not just one person's viewpoint.

Just reading this for the first time today. I agree what are we paying for? Not sure I got that email been knee deep in training for days.

I just removed myself from the Welcome Mat, these Blogs and RHD are FREE and fine for me.
